2018 PMSF International Conference

Howdy from the Conference Committee Chairs !

It’s hard to believe that we are just seven months away from our 11th biennial international family conference. The conference will be held July 18-22, 2018 in Dallas Texas at the Embassy Suites DFW-North.  As some of you may remember from early conferences, the Embassy Suites is a property that offers opportunities for families to mingle and get to know each other in a relaxed environment with complimentary daily breakfast and an evening happy hour.

The theme for the 2018 conference is United in Hope. Our committee has been hard at work planning the conference. We realize the family packet is a valuable asset for many of you when deciding whether to attend the conference.  Keep an eye out for the family packets which will be sent out electronically soon. Conference registration will open in the next few months. Below are the latest updates:

Room Reservations: Our hotel block at the Embassy filled up quickly so, we recently added more rooms to our block.  There are two ways to make your reservations:

Room Rates: The group rate of $149 per night is good until June 14, 2018 or until the group block is sold out whichever comes first.  Thereafter, the room rate will be subject to the current published rate. So make your reservations soon!

McPosium:  We’re pleased to announce the Phelan-McPosium will be part of our conference again.  This workshop allows families to engage with researchers and an opportunity to learn about and discuss real life issues faced by people with PMS.

Childcare: This year we are excited to announce that child care will be open to all PMS individuals regardless of their age. Our new vendor will also be able to accommodate the personal needs of  PMS children and adults. Registration for child care will open up along with conference registration. Stay tuned for more exciting news about our child care provider and the activities that we have planned for the duration of the conference.

Volunteer: We will be looking for volunteers to help out throughout the conference. The volunteer shifts are usually two hours long and can range from working in the conference store, helping at registration and being a Parent Liaison (PAL) for a first time conference attendee. These opportunities offer a great way to give back during the conference and provide a chance to interact with attendees you may not have met by just attending the sessions. You will be able to indicate that you’re interested in volunteering when registering for the conference.  Sign up for specific volunteer opportunities will be published at a later date.

As we roll out more information about the conference, it will be posted in the blog and on our 2018 Conference Facebook Event on the PMSF Foundation page. Simply like the page to stay informed!

We look forward to seeing y’all in Dallas in July!
